Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso DOC - Tenuta Chiccheri

Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso DOC - Tenuta Chiccheri

Tenuta Chiccheri

Description

WINERY: Tenuta Chiccheri di Ruffo Giancarlo

PRODUCTION AREA: Tregnago - Verona - Italy

Tenuta Chiccheri is a little gem in the hills surrounding Tregnago, in the Vally of Illasi, which defines the region of Valpolicella Allargata where some of the most innovative producers of the DOC are located. It has gained prominence with a stunning Amarone and Valpolicella Superiore which are complemented by a line of bubbles Montpre’ that have been recognised and awarded for exquisite elegance and quality.

WINE: Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso

Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso is produced precisely according to the Ripasso tradition which consists in re-fermenting Valpolicella wine in tanks over the skins of Amarone or Recioto. The residues of higher concentrations of sugars resulting from the appassimento process as well as the presence of Noble Rot (Botrytis cinerea), add to the Valpolicella Ripasso which becomes more intense, flavoured and rounded.

Chiccheri: an affable name evoking history. Chiccheri was the nickname of peasants who once lived where now sweet and delicate grapes grow. Is it a magical place? Chiccheri sounds like “chicco” (in Italian it means grape): hence the magic continues!

Every vineyard, every row of vine to every single individual vine is carefully tended so that it can produce the best fruits possible. Day after day nature and man humbly do their job which concludes in August when harvest starts and continues until the end of October.
